Recently, I had the pleasure of chatting with and playing in the studio of an Atlanta based sustainable fashion company, The Conscious Outfit. The Conscious Outfit is a shopping experience where you can buy high quality, vintage, designer and up cycled clothing. They offer a variety of ways to access their clothing and can make it an enjoyable experience to shop, not only shop but to help cut down on the fast fashion trend and problem that is greatly affecting the climate.
Fast Fashion has become a major problem affecting our climate, eco system and people/things that live on this planet! If we can all come together in different ways to change the trend of fashion to it being slow, buying less and caring about where it comes from, who makes it(and under what circumstances), what it’s made of then we can make some major strides in a expedient fashion (pun intended).
The Conscious Outfit is here for us to help change the direction of shopping/fashion. Joanne and Casey met at a dinner party where some friends were discussing fashion and the two were introduced and things just went from there. Joanne and Casey hit it off and decided to host their own pop up shop and did it at Hampton + Hudson (local restaurant with private rooms available) with that group of friends from the dinner club. Since they both collected so many pieces separately already, they were able to bring it all together.
Then they started buying more clothes and they now have a full studio of racks of clothes! It’s a shopping girl’s heaven! Joanne’s education is in fashion design and was already upcyling pieces since there is so much waste in fashion these days. She is able to add to items or alter items slightly to make it seem even newer and more unique.
So, Joanne and Casey decided to start a business, calling it “The Conscious Outfit” with the business model of hosting pop up shops around Atlanta, helping clients find pieces that suit their style by asking a series of questions prior to picking out items that the client may want. The client can them come to their studio or they can bring the clothes to them. Another service they provide is a closet clean out with a personal style profile. They also host parties so you can either attend one or you can host your own, invite your friends to shop, drink and mingle.
The Conscious Outfit now offers a rental subscription service, which allows you to spend a small amount monthly to get even more than your money’s worth by picking out the pieces you want that equal the amount. Basically, they have different amount options available you can pay monthly and get a certain dollar amount of clothes depending on the plan. Head on over to their website for more details on that(and on their recent Instagram post). Here are the looks we picked out together and I tried on, I bought the first dress and second tank top!
