In 2014, in my opinion, the best makeover show on TV was born(pun intended)!
B.O.R.N To Style was such a super fun & unique head to toe makeover show full of amazingly talented fashion entrepreneurs, wardrobe stylists, makeup and hair stylists (Jonathan Bodrick,Terry Artis, Brandon Hood, Devin Stokes, Kristen E. Brown and JJ Langan). I hate it is over and hope it one day returns! We just loved that show at my house!
I decided to revisit my Blog & interview from 2015 with Terry Artis and styling session with Jonathan Bodrick(show stars and shop owners), so I am reposting it now. In the summer of 2015, I had the pleasure of visiting and shopping at JB B.O.R.N. Vintage(Borrowed, Old, Reburbished, New) in East Harlem, NYC. The owner and manager are the stars of fashion TV show, B.O.R.N. To Style, which aired for two seasons here in the States on FYI Network and is still running in many other countries across the globe. On this show, the cast would style and do makeup on a variety of clients, give very helpful and relevant fashion tips, work on photo shoots and even doing fun dance segments in between commercials.
In an episode, they would go to the clients home to check out their closet to see what they could keep, then had them come to the store to have them pick out a new look to go with those other pieces. They would have a styling session, then makeup and hair to complete their new look and always left with new confidence and joy! The stars were often pulling together styling for major photo shoot clients as well as part of the show for added fashion fun!
My hubby and I loved the chemistry of the cast, the theme of the show, look of the shop and set and of course their fun dance segments in between commercials! If you haven’t seen this show I highly suggest binge watching all the episodes!
So we were both overjoyed when we showed up to the shop (and might I add it was our first time in Harlem and we loved the vibe!) to interview Terry and Jonathan Bodrick(the owner and star of the show) answered the door with open arms! I felt like I had known him my whole life! He told us his background, story of the show and ran around the shop looking for clothes to style us in. Although there were many great options of clothes and accessories for every day wear,special events and even more dramatic apparel. We both ended up shopping: belts, shoes and I got a purse. It was such a fun experience, we hated to leave but had a concert to get to on the other side of the island! My hubby bought a sleek blazer he still has and wears and I still have my pieces!
