“Our company is founded on the inspiration of my daughter, Mayson Maria, also known as May; my name is Julia. May and I call Georgia home. I have always been passionate about health and wellness but after the birth of my daughter, my vision became more clear: I realized how much I wanted to help myself, my daughter, and others deeply connect to the sacred gifts nature provides and the teachers before us have given.
I feel a calling to help individuals grow, conquer, and overcome obstacles. My passion is to help people learn to cleanse and elevate their mind, body, and spirit through yoga, skin care, holistic care, and soon energy healing. I trained in different lineages of yoga with Pranic Soul RYT 200 hour.
My family and I own and operate Georgia May Healing together. Our oils are derived from plants, so nature has already supplied us multiple wonderful resources. Georgia May’s Oils goal is to harness these valued gifts of nature in formulas that repair and restore the delicate balance needed for healthy skin and hair.“

My love/obsession with the beach and the ocean started as a young girl, growing up on the Jersey Shore. I have always loved walking on the beach, and collecting sea glass. I moved around quite a bit after high school, and my sea glass collection always came with me. My journey brought me full-circle back to New Jersey, where my desire to start creating something with my treasures began. For me, the hardest part was getting started. I started making hair clips out of sea shells. From there, I started wire-wrapping sea glass, and progressed to drilling sea glass for necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. I began selling my jewelry at local farmers’ markets, and realized that others liked my designs, too.

From Plastic, to Pants
It starts with our fabric. Our materials are made from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets. We use a no-water dyeing process that cuts down on waste. And, we take every scrap of material that passes through our shop, and turn it into something of use and beauty.

We pride ourselves on supporting our local community and economy through our dedication to manufacturing in the US. Our co-founder, lead seamstress and creative captain Haley Byfield personally begins the sewing process on every single product we produce.

Yoga Democracy was founded with the desire to give back. To create higher quality, longer-lasting products for the yogis (and potential yogis) around the world, but also to create a thriving, inclusive community.
