Goorin Bros.

Goorin Bros.

Goorin Bros. is one of the oldest hat companies in the country. They are a family owned company that has been handed down generation after generation.  It started in Pittsburgh in 1895  with Cassel Goorin selling headwear for men and boys on a horse drawn street cart. Eventually his sons took over and opened a shop and it went from there(full story on their website) . Now there are more than a dozen locations across the United States and one in Toronto, Canada.

Goorin Bros. has so many styles and fabrics available for men and women that it’s hard to leave this beautiful store without one!  The Atlanta location is in the newer multi use development, Ponce City Market and is a perfect shop for this historic building.

I recently visited and walked through the shop with their amazing Shopkeeper, Danny, who is so knowledgeable about all of their products, history, fabrics, origin of materials and has a super fashionable eye for what will look good on you for whatever occasion you are looking for.  Below are some photos the hats I loved the most along with the one I ended up with!

Modern Panama, Bolero Style

Photographed above:  Jac Jac,a toquilla straw. 30% water resistant and has a UPF (spf for clothing) of 50.

Cloche. Fitted, Bell shaped hat.

Above: Luxe wool finish that gives it a sheen similar to beaver pelts. It is more fashion that practicality as the Lux finish can not get wet, if it does then it will curl.    “That style is inspired by the flapper era and it perfect for anyone with blunt bangs or bob or both. That is why the hat is called Tina the flapper “

Traditional Floppy. Made from 50/50 blend of cotton and hemp. Named “Mother Jugs”
