Did you know that a lot of Christmas wrapping paper is non recyclable, depending on if it’s metallic and also your community’s recycling rules/procedures? But even if it can be recycled or it is recycled paper, chances are pretty good it’s not put in recycling bin. We throw away tons of Christmas paper every year, for no good reason other than just making gifts “look pretty”. However, you can make presents look just as enticing with recycled brown paper or as we used to use when I was a kid, the Sundays comics. Using recycled paper will help cut down the production of regular wrapping paper, which the process itself can be damaging to the environment.
This year, some of my dear friends sent me some pictures of their gifts that they wrapped with care using recycled brown paper and one used recycled paper from Anthropologie because they know it makes me happy! Here are a few of their gifts plus the featured image.
I am committing to not purchasing wrapping paper that is not compostable or recyclable. I still have some paper up in the attic from past years, but have not purchased in two seasons. However, I know I can do more than that. For the past three years, I had made a conscious choice to purchase mostly organic, handmade or earth friendly items and have been asking for these type items from family/loved ones when they ask what I would like for Christmas. A few of my favorite brands to ask for are Yoga Democracy, Pact Organic, Synergy Organic Apparel, Girlfriend Collective, Drea James Jewelry, Georgia May Skincare, 302 Skincare, Josie Maran Cosmetics, Wildrose Magnolia (aka Savyy Wellness), Senhoa and Malas With A Mission. Here’s hoping you all have a very happy(and ethical) holiday season friends!!
