Women’s March/Power To The Polls Ga 2018

So I’ve officially been to two social justice marches now and they are certainly invigorating, uplifting and inspiring! This past year and half have been a bit of a rollercoaster for everyone, from politics, to natural disasters, weather, and other tragic events I would rather not discuss here.

It was just an awesome, peaceful gathering of thousands of the diverse people of Atlanta and surrounding areas.  People were singing, dancing, chanting and ready to support causes dear to their hearts. I really hope this inspires the next generation (“Millennials, “Generation Z” and beyond) to vote, inspire others to vote and/or run for office!

This year some of the speakers were actor/activist Alyssa Milano,  candidate for Ga Gubernatorial election Stacey Abrams, and two of the Women’s March co-chair activists Tamika Mallory and Linda Sarsour.  Unfortunately I had to work so missed the first two but saw Tamika and Linda’s speeches and a moment at end where they brought out Stacey Abrams one last time. It was an awesome day of unity!  These were some truly inspiring speeches from strong women who kids can look up to as positive role models and motivators!

Although I am an advocate, I like to raise awareness and express to others (who may or may not listen—-I will admit I’m a little passionate too!) how important is to stay up to date with current events and what’s happening as far as shifts and changes in our political environment and world, while not letting it overwhelm my life.  And it’s so critical to be here for each other during these crazy times and lift each other up. I suggest plenty of Yoga, meditation and exercise, eating healthy, drinking a lot of water and sleeping well to assist yourself in staying at peak health, keep focused and remain tranquil during this ever changing life journey.

So,anyway, here are some pictures  from my experiences last year and this year. My outfit photographed here also from the first Women’s March one year ago. I got my Obama dress at a super cute vintage shop in the East Village in NYC years ago. The designer had taken three different tops/dresses and had sewn them together to make one and then stamped somehow Barack Obama’s face.  I bought this probably a couple years into the first term and this was the perfect occasion to wear it!
